Why Are Women Calling Women Bitch?

Why Are Women Calling Women Bitch?

I love contributing to advice columns where readers get to weigh in and offer their own two cents; the insight they give me into the collective consciousness is indispensable to my sociological mind. What I find most surprising is the number of women who back the theory that a women who sets standards and stick to them is a demanding “bitch” who should do her boyfriend a favour and leave him, I guess so he can find a woman who will silently endure the broken promises and lack of consideration. I actually had to say to a WOMAN “it’s okay for a man to do something to make his woman happy!”

WATCH: DON’T LET THE PITT BULL SYNDROME WRECK YOUR LOVE LIFE

You want a marriage proposal before dumping your life and following your boyfriend across the country? You’re asking too much. You’re considering breaking up with your boyfriend because you stated smoking was a deal breaker from the get go and he’s back to lighting up? You’re a bitch.

Why do we live in a society where women’s standards are knocked down by both sexes? Why have women’s needs been pushed back so far that to even voice them opens them up for criticism and name calling? Why are WOMEN calling other women bitches for wanting commitment or kept promises?!

Make sure the one you’re choosing for a relationship is the right one.

I understand that as women we are in a subconscious competition for resources (men) despite the fact that in today’s world we are more than capable of looking out for ourselves. I understand that the notion that women are best taught to be dis-empowered by men in order to be more controllable and easier to please has been woven into our culture. What I don’t understand is women who are not banding together with their fellow woman and backing them up when they dare stand up and ask for more…more being equality and consideration.

If I could write a set of rules for women, it would be this:

1 – Thou shalt  not call another woman a bitch for wanting something better for herself
2 – Thou shalt support other women when they stand up for their standards instead of giving in to what men want
3 – Thou shalt not verbally strike down a woman for having a different set of needs and standards than you
4 – Thou shalt recognize and overcome your instinctive competitive nature and seek to work together with love and support
5 – Thou shalt contribute to the collective power of women to advance in this mans world and make it a safer place in all ways for all women

Is this too much to ask? I sure hope not.
